6 inch by 8 inch pad paper with a small perforation tear at the top,
but it was unfortunately glued to another piece of paper to act as matting.
Above the drawing, a pencil note mentions "UNIT #4 BAMBI Dec 22, 1938". The
person in the middle seems to picture Carl Barks, with octagon glasses.
In pencil (appears contemporary), on the back of the sketch, the names are/were
mentioned: Carl Barks, Chuck Couch, Cecil Beard.
On the lower front, above the 2 Disney Model Sheet or animation paper
slits, the names are/were the same except someone added "unknown" for
the 4th person (not contemporary).
The writing of "Bambi Unit #4", the date, and the names on the back are in
the same handwriting. It looks like the names on the lower front were
put on later, copied from the back with an added "unknown" for the 4th
person.
Backstage: In about 1938, Barks had a six-week stab, "trying his hand" at Walt Disney's full-length feature »Bambi«.
Owners, past and present: Current owner purchased it from Animation Plus Gallery in Cary, North Carolina, and believes they got it from a private collection, when they had a few shops in the LA area of California. Originally it came out of Disney. They guaranteed it was contemporary.

Additional credits: In a 1973 letter, one high school art teacher wanted an original drawing for his students to study. Barks replied with this quick sketch and the following note of instruction: "Sketch made while 'feeling around' for a composition for a small character study of Uncle Scrooge. Much work has to be done on such layouts. The position of every element, even each coin, must be carefully studied. This sketch is only a raw beginning."
Scrooge frowns, sitting behind a desk with a calculator and money.

Questions:
Has the Disneyana book ever been published? And if so, does it contain any
Barks material?
Which Danish edition of "Horsing Around With History" is meant in "Uncle
Scrooge Adventures" #35?
Is there really a connection between the sketch and plans for a cover for
"Horsing Around With History", concerning the unusual landscape format and
the equally unusual abundance of background details? For example, maybe Barks
or someone else remembered the sketch and suggested that its resembling
treasure travel theme could make it a suitable cover design for "Horsing Around
With History"?
